Living a Rich Life

If becoming rich is part of your dream-and there’s no reason why it shouldn’t be-just be careful you don’t confuse being rich with living a rich life. I think we should all become financially rich. If we are, we can give more to our families, our communities and our world. But it’s living a rich life that should be our primary objective.

A rich life is created by being more concerned with who you become than what you acquire. It’s created by clarity of purpose. And clarity leads to power.

In my opinion, the most important thing you can do for yourself is to invest the time and perhaps even money to become absolutely clear on what you want out of life. I’m not talking about goals here. I’m talking about the essence of what you truly want-what you will feel good about when your life is over. This is not an easy process. Perhaps that’s why so few people do it.

All the information is inside you. You need only to think carefully and intuit deeply in order to gain this insight and allow yourself to live with a keen focus and real clarity.

The old adage, “Know thyself,” has become such a clich that it’s lost much of its meaning. But when you’re completely clear on who you are, what you want, where you’re going and have a plan to get there, you’ll not only be more effective, you’ll experience better health and more fulfillment. You will lead a rich life.

If we were sitting across from one another, here’s what I’d ask you: “What’s the most important goal/dream/mission in your life?”

I would look for a description that shows your passion for it-something where you have a sparkle in your eye and emotion in your voice. I believe that everyone has a dream-that it’s not something to be invented, but rather to be discovered. It may take some time to uncover it, but living a life filled with verve and excitement is certainly worth it.

Your plan, your vehicle to get there may change over time, but the vision-the mission-will not.

The next question I would ask is, “Why do you want to accomplish this dream?” Your reasons are critical to your success. When you have sufficient reasons, you can overcome any challenge. One way you can strengthen your reasons is to visualize what your life will be like when you’ve accomplished your dream. The more real it becomes-the more you see it and feel it-the more you’ll believe it.

It’s also a way to check out if this is really your dream. Sometimes, after envisioning what we think is our dream, we find that it’s not really what we want. Better to find out now than to spend our lives achieving something that will not provide fulfillment in the process.

And it is that process that is the real value. Remember, it’s not so much what you accomplish, but rather what you become in that process that’s important. Which leads me to my next question.

“How will you have to grow and change in order to accomplish your dream?” “What will you become on your journey?” Any worthy goal involves change. If you don’t think you’ll have to grow and change, then you don’t have a very inspiring goal. A worthy goal involves risk. It involves getting out of our comfort zone. That’s where real growth occurs.

So the short version of our conversation goes like this: what do you want, why do you want it and what are you willing to do to get it? These are questions you need to constantly be asking yourself.

If you do-if you take the time to think and ponder the answers, you’ll gain greater clarity, more fulfillment, live longer and feel better. You will live a rich life.

Page upon page of the magazine is filled with what can only be categorized as the most perfect country home decor you can imagine. You gaze longingly at the various styles and furnishings you see gracing the magazine’s pages. A quick look up from your magazine assures you that your own modest abode hasn’t changed magically into one of those lovely country homes you were just looking at.

A heavy sigh passes your lips at the realization and so you go back to reading the magazine article. You had never thought that you were the sort of person who could live with the country home decor style but now upon reflection you think you just might be able to.

Now without your even realising it, you find yourself marking the pages that intrigue you the most, making small maths calculations on how best to achieve the same effect but on the more modest budget that you have at your disposal. After all, it just wouldn’t do to spring for that lovely Welsh dresser and have to go without your freshly ground whole bean coffee, would it?

But, you could definitely go for that appealing table runner without too much of a problem. And if you donated all those modern chrome coffee mugs and dinner sets to charity you wouldn’t really be splurging, would you, since you would have already done your best for charity and donated all these things?

What about swapping your jazzy blinds for something that’s a bit more in the country home decor style, and while you’re at it perhaps you could even swap that ugly lampshade you got as a house-warming gift for something a little more country.

The only thing that is left for you to do now is to sit back and enjoy the fruits of your labours and gaze with beaming pride upon your newly redecorated home. Furnished, naturally enough, in the best of country home decor style that you could gain from every source that you found, like that first magazine which started it all off.

Top Hangers Work Wonders In Your Closet

The time has come for you to organize your closet. If you’re ready the first thing to have is the right hangers. You need to be certain you have enough hangers for all of your clothes. The goal is to have everything of the floor so your clothes stay nicer, cleaner and last longer.

Now you should section off your closet for appropriate purposes. For example save the highest rod in your closet to hang dresses and pants on. Shorter rods can accommodate shirts and skirts. Top hangers can easily be used on either level.

Some people say you should always press as you go, and this is pretty good advice. When you take the time to iron your clothes before putting them on top hangers, it will take longer to finish the chore, but you will be pleased with the result. When you iron everything you put into your closet, you’ll always have something in wearable condition when you need it.

You may also want to consider organizing your items by color. Taking this extra step now can reduce the time it takes when choosing something to wear. You get dressed by color, so you’ll save time by grouping items this way.

Hang pants and skirts on clip or top quality press hangers only. Folding them over a regular hanger guarantees you’ll end up with a horizontal crease where you don’t want one. If you have pants made of lightweight fabric, feel free to put two on one hanger.

And finally, find an appropriate area to arrange your shoes and accessories. Scarves and ties hang nicely from clips designed for regular hangers. A hanging shoetree is an ideal space saving tool that utilizes the back of your closet door. Don’t be afraid to be creative and work with what you have.

Exercising can help reduce stress in a different way. Technically, exercising is a form of physical stress. Exercising helps to prevent stress. When you purposefully subject your body to stress, your body has to adapt in order to survive. During this process, your body gets stronger, faster, and fitter. This prevents reduces stress in the future. The next time your body encounters a stressful situation, it will be used to the stress and it will have a weaker impact. Exercising is easy and yet many people neglect it. Exercising requires commitment and a paradigm shift. Start small. Walk, then jog, then sprint. Most people lack to drive to exercise. Exercising is very important and it can prevent future stress.

Chewing your food can reduce stress. Yes, you heard me. Your body spends a lot of energy digesting food. If you do not chew your food properly, you are putting excess stress on your body to work harder to get the same amount of energy from the foods you eat. Chewing thoroughly takes just a little more time but you can unlock a good amount of energy and at the same time, reduce stress on your body. Think about it this way. Put a big ice cube in a glass of water. Then mix it. Now put the same ice cube but break it down to smaller sizes, or even shavings if you have an ice shaver. Notice how the ice in the smaller size dissolves more quickly. This is because the ice shavings have more surface area. It’s similar to your digestive system. You do not want your body to work harder to digest the same amount of food, so take your time and chew your food. Physical stress is just as important as mental stress. We should not ignore it.
