Stephen Colbert and his iPad at the Grammys

Stephen Colbert and his iPad at the Grammys

It must be nice to be the host of your own popular Comedy Central show and a host on the Grammy Awards. Why? You get to play with an iPad.

No, it’s not one of Tim Meehan’s faux iPads – this was a working unit that flipped from portrait to landscape mode when Stephen Colbert pulled it out of his jacket… or pants. Enjoy this short piece of video from tonight’s Grammy Award ceremonies.

Steorn livestream to settle the case for overunity once and for all… or something like that

Steorn livestream to settle the case for overunity once and for all… or something like that

Once again, Steorn promises to finally prove that free, clean, and constant energy can be produced by its Orbo technology — principle of the conservation of energy be damned! — on a webcast this upcoming Saturday. Of course, they might have similarly proven their point during a previous web event… or maybe they haven’t. At this point, we’ve heard so many outlandish claims that we’re having a hard time keeping ‘em straight, but we’ve never been one to turn down a gratis comedy show after a hard day’s night. Tune in if you find yourself in the mood for a chuckle. Or don’t. Chances are you won’t miss much anything.

Microsoft ditches Family Guy special… for being Family Guy

Microsoft ditches Family Guy special… for being Family Guy

Face? Meet palm. Microsoft’s decided to pull out of its co-sponsoring of “Family Guy Presents: Seth & Alex’s Almost Live Comedy Show” after execs attending the taping came to the sudden conclusion that Family Guy-caliber jokes were to be told, tackling such topics as “deaf people, the Holocaust, feminine hygiene and incest.” We’re not sure how 10 years and over 120 episodes of offensive precedence bypassed Redmond’s radars, but man, that’s gotta be some strong personal bubble. A Microsoft representative said of the taping, “it became clear that the content was not a fit with the Windows brand.” The show will still air November 8th, pre-recorded Microsoft references in tow, but with a new as-of-yet unnamed sponsor. All we have of the now-doomed partnership is this brief video from the Windows “741″ student site — it’s after the break.

Found Footage: Pull My Finger stands for freedom

Found Footage: Pull My Finger stands for freedom

I’ve got a soft spot in my comedy heart for The Daily Show’s Wyatt Cenac, one of the newer correspondents on the program; he often manages to give interview subjects just enough Colbertian leeway to wander into the danger zone, then lets them blunder about, bumping into the awkward silences to excellent effect.

That’s exactly what Cenac did this week when he interviewed the creators of iPhone fart apps Pull My Finger and iFart, who have a long-simmering feud over who gassed whom on the fart-app frontier. The whole thing is fine and funny… right up until the point that Pull My Finger developer Eric Stratton compares his app’s struggle against injustice to Jackie Robinson breaking the color line in baseball. That’s when it becomes deliciously, painfully hilarious. For the record, Stratton claims he was joking.

You can check out the video in the second half of the post. Nice work, Wyatt.
