Panasonic serves up latest prototype robots, dish washing servant included (video)
Keeping those dreams alive by scrubbing dishes at your least favorite eatery? Best put those aspirations on the front burner, as Panasonic’s got a mighty fine robot swooping in to take your place — and for a whole lot less cash, to boot. At Panny’s robotics laboratory in Osaka, the company recently showcased its latest gaggle of prototype robots designed to help humans take it easy more often. Among the usual suspects were a porter robot designed to help with heavy lifting, while the star of the show was undoubtedly the dish washing bot that wasn’t afraid to get its metallic digits wet and soapy. As expected, an array of integrated sensors kept it from grabbing a wine glass too tightly, and its four fingers enabled it to do most everything a human washer could (sans the kvetching). Have a peek at these guys in action just past the break.

How would you change Panasonic’s Lumix DMC-GH1?
How would you change Panasonic’s Lumix DMC-GH1?
Olympus’ E-P1 may be cuter, but it was Panny’s own Lumix DMC-GH1 carrying the Micro Four Thirds banner for quite some time. After an excruciatingly painful wait for it to slide from concept to production, it was largely met with praise from the industry. Of course, smaller rivals have since emerged, leaving early adopters with an expensive piece of larger-than-necessary kit. Still, we’re anxious to hear if you MFT believers that jumped at the chance to own a GH1 are still satisfied with your decision. Is the image quality where it should be? Are the controls implemented well? Do you have to keep stealing it back from your lady friend? Rip it or praise it, but whatever you do, do it in comments below.

Panasonic’s Quick Power Dry hand dryer promises 2-3 second escape from public toilets
Panasonic’s Quick Power Dry hand dryer promises 2-3 second escape from public toilets
Unless you’re a member of the US Senate or a British pop star, most people aren’t looking to linger about the dank confines of public toilets. Enter Panasonic and its new Quick Power Dry hand dryer that promises dry hands in just 2-3 seconds with the help of its 280MPH blower. That’s an “industry fastest” dry-time according to Panasonic and a crushing blow (har!) to Dyson’s Airblade that dries hands in 12 seconds despite 400MPH blasts of air. The wall-mountable Panny FJ-T13V1-W dryer is available now for ¥214,200 — that’s $2,280 in US monies which means you can forget about seeing ‘em installed in the New York subway.
